On Saturday, the WJMS Academic Team competed in the Region 16 Governor's Cup Competition along with 12 other teams who placed first or second in their district competitions.
The WJMS Quick Recall team won all of their matches until the final round, where they lost to Danville Bate Middle School and finished in second place overall. In written assessments, Noah Dixon won first place in Math and Science, Kareem Omar took third place in Science, and Catherine Graham finished in fourth place in Written Composition. See the KAAC site for final results.
As a result of the Quick Recall finish and the individual finishes, WJMS was the runner-up in Region 16, earning second place overall, and the opportunity to compete at the Ashland Inc. State Governor's Cup Competition in Louisville on March 14-16th. There are 24 regions in Kentucky, and each region will send their top two teams to the state competition.
Congratulations to the team for all of their hard work. Many thanks to the parents and the WJMS administration for their support. Go Colts!
