The WJMS Academic Team competed in the State Governor's Cup this weekend. The Quick Recall team tied for 17th place. The team finished as 1 of 12 Pool Champions, who won both of their first two matches. Four of these champions were randomly drawn to compete later that same day instead of automatically moving to the top 16. Our team unfortunately was drawn to compete that same day and lost that match, tying for 17th place.
In addition to the Quick Recall team, three of our students, Kareem Omar, Noah Dixon, and Catherine Graham, competed in individual written assessments. Noah Dixon finished in 5th place in Science, and Kareem Omar finished in 11th place in Science.
Overall, the WJMS Academic Team tied for 26th place in the state of Kentucky.
There were 48 teams competing in this year's Governor's Cup. These teams consisted of the top two teams from each district across the state. There are 221 public middle schools in the state (Kentucky Department of Education).
